Planetary Cabling Systems
Tulsa Power LLC recently introduced its line of
turnkey Planetary Cabling Systems. Illustration
above shows a system currently under construction at
the Tulsa, Oklahoma manufacturing facility.
Components of the line include a 50,000 lb. Powered
traversing frame gantry/portal payoff, two (2)
twelve (12) position planetary cabling bays, heavy
duty 72” Caterpuller capstan and a 50,000 lb.
Traversing frame gantry/portal take-up system. Each
cabling bay will accommodate six (6) 66” diameter
primary reels weighing up to 6,500 lbs. each and six
(6) 36” diameter filler reels weighting up to 1,500
lbs. each. Both primary and filler cradle positions
are powered and controlled by load cell mounted
material guide sheave for precise communication to
drive system. Each cabling bay is pit mounted and
supported by heavy-duty trunion rollers and phenolic
topside rollers. Drive system utilizes an AC Vector
motor, two (2) speed transmission connected to a
helical/bevel gearbox with four (4) strand chain and
sprocket driving the cabling bay. The entire cabling
line is PC controlled allowing for individual cable
recipe retrieval precisely controlling the cabling
bay (s) speeds and Caterpuller Capstan speeds
producing exacting lay lengths per cable
specification.
